Ormai ci siamo, è tutto pronto per il matrimonio tra il Principe William e Kate Middleton, matrimonio che verrà celebrato il 29 aprile 2011. La chiesa dove i due si scambieranno l’eterna promessa è già stata preparata ed è solo in attesa delle celebrazioni. Il 15 dicembre 2006 Kate partecipò alla parata della quale faceva parte anche il principe William, organizzata dall’Accademia Militare Reale Sandhurst, come invitata ufficiale della Casa Reale. Il 14 aprile 2007, durante una vacanza nel resort svizzero di Zermatt, la relazione tra Kate e William si interruppe. Nessuna motivazione ufficiale venne data dopo la notizia, si ipotizzò che la causa potesse essere una mancanza di attenzioni da parte del principe, o la giovane età della coppia, non pronta al matrimonio. Il Daily Mail riportò il desiderio della corte reale di non affrettare troppo i tempi. Nel giugno 2008 Kate ha assistito con tutta la famiglia reale all’investitura di William dell’Ordine della Giarrettiera e nel luglio dello stesso anno è stata invitata al matrimonio di Lady Rose Windsor, figlia del Duca di Gloucester – cugino della Regina Elisabetta – con George Gilman. Il 16 novembre 2010 Clarence House ha annunciato il fidanzamento ufficiale del principe William con Kate Middleton. La proposta di matrimonio era già giunta da parte di William nell’ottobre 2010, in occasione di un viaggio della coppia in Kenia. Kate ha ricevuto come anello di fidanzamento il gioiello che già fu donato dal principe Carlo a Lady Diana per la stessa occasione: un anello in oro bianco con uno zaffiro ovale circondato da 14 diamanti.
